During Marcus Center's closing, nosotros were able to refresh the inside of Uihlein Hall. Nosotros removed every seat, added several aisles to the master floor, adapted the layout on the 2d level, added new wheelchair-accessible seating, updated aisle lighting, and installed all new seats throughout the hall. This new layout makes getting to most seats in the hall much easier, but it has resulted in new seat names and numbers.

We are excited to denote our re-envisioned Phase 1 of its Campus Chief Plan. The $4 1000000 project is made possible through the generous support of donors, including two lead donors: a $ane million gift from Donna and Donald Baumgartner and a major gift from an anonymous donor.

"We are extremely grateful for the delivery of Donald and Donna Baumgartner and our anonymous donor," said Marcus Center President and CEO Kendra Whitlock Ingram. "Their generosity will allow our organization to movement forward with re-envisioned priorities, which will greatly raise the patron feel in Uihlein Hall, make our facility more accessible to all, and prepare the states to emerge stronger post-COVID-19."

In creating its Campus Master Plan, the Marcus Center provided for significant flexibility to adapt timelines and priorities. With the emergence of COVID-nineteen, this Spring, the Marcus Middle embarked on a process to re-envision the plan. Renovations inside Phase 1 will take place over the next six months.

"Despite the challenges of existence shut down considering of COVID, we recognized that nosotros also had a unique opportunity to reinvest in our most of import interior performing infinite, while the building is airtight," said Whitlock Ingram. The re-envisioned Phase I, also made possible through a generous grant from the Herzfeld Foundation, will prioritize investments in concrete spaces, including:

Renovation of Uihlein Hall, including new seats, a new seating configuration utilizing multiple aisles, increased public health and rubber amenities and enhanced ADA accommodations; creation of a dynamic and vibrant new outdoor public space to serve every bit a forum for condom, accessible and socially distanced programming for the Marcus Center and its eight local arts resident partners; and enhanced cleaning practices in all high-traffic patron and artist spaces with a focus on quality, efficiency, health and safety.

Expanding Access Through Technology
In addition to investments in the physical space of the Marcus Center, Phase Ane will prioritize the installation of state-of-the-fine art live streaming applied science in all of its performance venues, besides as the Bradley Pavilion. This new engineering science will expand admission to the arts to audiences across the state of Wisconsin, including schools. This work is a continuation of an expansion of service expansion started as a result of the pandemic. This summertime, the Marcus Center transitioned to offer online programming, including KidZ Days at the Heart, a gratis summer youth program that incorporates performing arts education into interactive participation. Equally a virtual offering this summertime, the program had more than 46,000 views through social channels and website. The Heart has also offered virtual concerts and events, including Christopher Jackson: Alive from the West Side and the upcoming national watch party of the John Lewis documentary Good Problem with an accompanying national panel discussion.
